BALANCING BOUNDARIES

Build confidence and meaningful impact,

while maintaining your health and developing resilience.

INTRODUCES

ARE YOU TIRED OF...

always feeling at the brink of burnout

doubting your value in ministry

feeling guilty about saying no

not knowing how to set boundaries

Tired of running from need to need unsure how to help and can’t say no?

YOU MAY BE

PASSIONATE TO SERVE BUT DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRAW THE LINE

And you've probably asked yourself this question at least 100 times...

HOW CAN I

HELP PEOPLE

THROUGH HEALTHY BOUNDARIES

WITHOUT GETTING SUCKED INTO THEIR CRISIS

When I began my career as a social worker I noticed I was often the go-to person for support.

I didn’t realize before, but now that I supported people with mental health and addictions all day long, the needs of friends and family became more of a burden.

But how could I say no?

These were people that I cared about and their needs seemed so much greater than my own.

I quickly had to learn some valuable lessons about how and when to set boundaries.

Both in my personal relationships and at work with clients. I lived in the same small rural town that I worked in and would often see those who I supported in the grocery store or when I was with my kids.

I had to build strong boundaries.

Otherwise, how could I support without compromising ethics? How could I serve guilt-free and enjoy my serve/life balance?

In the process, I was able to debunk some myths...

MYTH #1

I CAN'T SAY NO

"I HAVE to help! They really need someone to help them now."

MYTH #2

MY NEEDS CAN WAIT

"Their problem is so much greater than mine. My needs can wait. After all, they're minor compared to this."

MYTH #3

HAVING BOUNDARIES IS UNCARING

"I can't imagine setting a boundary to someone in great need instead of doing everything I can to help them."

MYTH #4

I HAVE TO DO MORE

"If I don't help, who will? Besides, I am able to do more."

FAQ

Do I need to be a pastor to take this course?

No! If you support others through 1-on-1 or in a small group you would benefit from this program. The strategies we discuss in the course are applicable for everyone!

????

?????

No prior knowledge is necessary. However, the course is based online so basic computer skills are required. Anyone who is able to check their email would have all the computer skills needed.

What prior knowledge do I need to have?

How long will this course take me to do?

Each lesson consists of a short (4-10min) video. The length of the homework varies but has been designed to fit into your already busy schedule. I would plan on 6-8 weeks to complete the course if you did 1-2 lessons a week.

ABOUT LAURA HOWE

As a counsellor and social worker for over 15 years I know first hand the need for strong boundaries. I was often looked to as a guide and support.

In my career, I supervised an incredible group of peer leaders. This group of volunteers used their lived experience as expertise to support others.

Overseeing peers developed a passion to equip lay leaders to ethically use their passions to support others. Volunteers are the backbone of many non-profits and faith-based organizations. Their skills and experience is valuable and training them HOW to use these skills with healthy boundaries is profitable for organizations.
